The Mikado
February 2013
The Mikado is a comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan, set in the fictional Japanese town of Titipu. It follows Nanki-Poo, a wandering musician who falls in love with Yum-Yum, despite her being promised to the town’s Lord High Executioner, Ko-Ko. What follows is a playful tangle of mistaken identities, ridiculous laws, romance and scheming, all wrapped up in Gilbert and Sullivan’s trademark wit and satire.
